Church Pew Refinishing

Not all church pews are worthy of refinishing. But as each day passes, the value of good quality existing pews continues to grow. Just try buying new pews of exactly similar structure. It's likely the cost will be two to three times that of refinishing. Thus, where existing pews are structurally sound, the decision to retain them is not difficult given the cost efficiency of restoration or refinishing.

Even where expansion or reconfiguration to meet modern liturgy needs is taking place, re-use of as much of the existing pews in combination with additional new pews or individual flexible seating is the common course. A church spending $150,000. on all new seating would likely see the price for using a combination of 50% new seating and 50% re-use of existing pews at about two thirds the price of all new. Refinishing only would be less than half the price of all new. Many parishes on our project list have used combinations or all refinished pews for their renovated spaces.
